Transferring the Hudson Card to Purdue: Boilermakers give a fresh start to the former Texas starting quarterback.

In his 3 seasons with the Longhorns, Card threw for 1,523 yards and eleven touchdowns.

Former Texas quarterback Hudson Card announced Monday that he has decided to join Purdue. In his three seasons with the Longhorns, Card threw for his 1,523 yards and his 11 touchdowns. In 2022, he threw for 928 yards, 6 touchdowns and just 1 interception as a backup to Quinn Ewers.

In 2021, Card started Day 1 for the Longhorns, taking over for Ewers in Week 2 in a loss to Alabama when the five-star freshman was injured. While throwing for 158 yards, he nearly led Texas to an upset victory over the Crimson Tide. He started the next three games, leading Texas to wins over UTSA and West Virginia. He threw for 741 yards and threw all six touchdowns.

In the first game of the 2021 season against Louisiana-Lafayette, Card threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns. However, he was benched in a loss to Arkansas after completing only 8 of 15 passes for 61 yards. He was Casey Thompson's backup for the remainder of the regular season. Card, a 6-foot-2-inch, 201-pound Texan, is a four-star prospect and was 59th overall in his 2020 class.

A good example of the benefits of the college football transfer portal is the fresh start card. He's not ready to be the starter of the Power Five in 2021 and it wouldn't be a big deal if he loses to Ewers, who is already a star in 2022. Ewers played in a pinch when he injured his shoulder. He improved as a player and showed he was tall enough to attract coaches across the country.

In a nutshell:
The card has plenty of time to live up to the hype they created when signing with their home team, the Longhorns. Card is perfectly positioned to continue his development as a starting quarterback in a first-year single-coach Power Five program.
