Kerala woman dies after ordering biryani online Minister Ordered Investigation
Kasaragod, Kerala:
In another case of suspected food poisoning, a 20-year-old woman died after allegedly eating 'kujimanti', a biryani dish from Kerala, at a local hotel.
Police say Anju Sriparvathy, from Perumbara near Kasaragod, ate 'Kuzimanti', which he bought online at Romancia restaurant in Kasaragod, on December 31 and has been receiving treatment since.
"One case was registered after her parents filed a complaint. The girl died early Saturday morning," police told the Press Trust of India.
The young woman was treated in a private facility and transferred to another facility in Mangaluru, Karnataka, where she died.
Meanwhile, state health secretary Beena George led an investigation into the incident.
"Food safety officials have been directed to report the incident," she said. In addition, the DMO is investigating the incident and the girl's treatment, Ms. George told reporters in Pasanamtitta.
She explained that the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) will revoke the license of any hotel suspected of having food poisoning.
A nurse at Kottayam Medical College died earlier this week after eating at a restaurant in Kozhikode.
